The Hannover City government declared its inclination to assist Indonesia as the Official Partner Country of the Hannover Messe 2023 on April 17-21. Hannover Messe is an annual event that showcases the latest industrial technology and is the world's largest exhibition that centers around automation, energy, and digitalization. The event is organized by Deutsche Messe AG (DMAG) and entails the participation of other nations as the Official Partner Countries. Indonesian Industry Ministry's Director General of Resilience, Territory, and International Industrial Access, Eko SA Cahyanto, stated that realizing the importance of industrial cooperation and foreign investment had become one of Indonesia's objectives as a partner country for Hannover Messe 2023. Indonesia brought 157 co-exhibitors across diverse industries to the exhibition and designed a pavilion inspired by Phinisi, a two-masted ship with seven sails. President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, explained how the Phinisi reflects Indonesia's grand theme at this year's Hannover Messe; "Making Indonesia 4.0." The theme's main focus of the event is sustainability and energy transition, promoting investment, especially in developing Special Economic Zones and Industrial Zones, improving human resources through Technical and Vocational Education and Training, and advancing innovation and research technology, mainly to help enhance start-ups. Airlangga Hartarto, the Coordinating Minister for the Economy, spoke about Indonesia's expectations regarding the significant increase in investment value that Hannover Messe 2023 could generate. The statement is believed to justify Indonesia's vast contributions to the event.
During the event, The Indonesian Government reaffirmed its commitment to green energy for constructing its new capital city, Nusantara. The following endeavors were to settle in the sought-after economic transformation. Mr Bambang Susantono, The Head of Nusantara Capital Authority, stated that all energy sources used in Nusantara are expected to be solar, hydro, and wind power. This statement was emphasized by Indonesian President Joko Widodo in the opening speech of the Hannover Messe on Sunday (04/16). Joko Widodo declared Indonesia's openness to investment and collaboration, primarily in green economics. Subsequently, asserting Indonesia's commitment to environmental sustainability is demonstrated by many specific actions to enhance the environment and transition to clean energy. The President added that the country likewise wants to ensure that the energy transition procedures are affordable for the public. On that occasion, Jokowi also stressed Indonesia's perseverance to transform the economy through the downstream industries of essential raw materials, energy transition, and the green economy. The availability of plentiful natural resources, substantial demographic and markets, and a well-maintained economy contribute to the downstream industrial policy. Along with the earlier statement, Indonesia is firmly committed to environmental sustainability in the green economy. By the year 2025, it is expected that up to 23% of energy will be obtained from new and renewable resources (EBT). One of the government's main focuses is to boost the country's industrial value chain in the country, added Jokowi. The President hopes the transformation of Indonesia's economy will be completed shortly with the support of green energy in the industry.
As the Official Partner Country at Hannover Messe 2023, Indonesia aims to secure investment worth Rp30 trillion through participation. The nation may potentially become a significant industry player due to its ample natural resources, demographic dividend, huge markets, and stable economy. Minister Airlangga anticipates that the Hannover Messe will attract additional investments, particularly in the manufacturing sector. Technological advancements will be showcased at the Indonesian National Pavilion in the event, consisting of medical devices for neonatal respiratory systems, automotive components, and fertilizer maintenance instruments. The pavilion will also feature the infrastructure and utility integration innovation plan to develop Indonesia's future capital, Nusantara (IKN). The Nusantara State Capital (IKN) will participate in the Hannover Messe 2023, highlighting the three aspects: green economy, sustainable economy, and automatic mobility. During Hannover Messe 2023, Indonesia signed 19 new cooperations with other countries. It comprises three government-to-business (G2B) agreements and 13 business-to-business (B2B) agreements, including cooperation in semiconductors, solar power, medical devices, waste management chemistry industry, development of CNC milling, Internet of Things (IoT), digital industry, electric vehicle charging, and battery systems, industrial parks, energy sustainability, and transition, human resources, as well as start-ups and innovation. In addition, the 157 Indonesia’s co-exhibitors came from the private sector, state-owned enterprises (SOEs), industrial parks, and special economic zones, encouraging the implementation of Making Indonesia 4.0. By showcasing Indonesian SMEs products and services on a global platform, they have the potential to expand their customer base, increase their market share, and establish valuable partnerships with industry leaders. Therefore, participating in the Hannover Messe 2023 presents a strategic opportunity for Indonesian SMEs to accelerate their growth and success in the international marketplace.
