August 14, 2026 at 16:30 GMT+7 Danantara Indonesia is set to acquire a stake in the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) following its planned demutualization, positioning the sovereign investment institution as a potential shareholder in the exchange.  Read More: Polymarket Targets US$20 Billion Valuation in New Funding Round In January 2026, Danantara welcomed the government’s move to accelerate the demutualization as part of broader structural reforms aimed at building a more efficient and credible capital market structure in Indonesia. The restructuring is expected to create a healthier market structure by reducing potential conflicts of interest and increasing confidence among investors and other market participants. 


With nearly 30% of IDX’s market capitalization coming from state-owned enterprises, Danantara emphasized that stronger governance and transparency are key to maintaining market credibility and sustainable growth.

The investment aligns with Danantara’s broader mandate to manage and optimize government investments and state-owned assets effectively. 


Through DIM, Danantara can channel its investment activities and strategic capital allocation. Danantara’s proposed stake also follows international practices, where sovereign wealth funds hold stakes in stock exchanges.

Discussions remain ongoing as relevant stakeholders assess the appropriate framework for Danantara’s potential participation. 

The acquisition is expected to move forward once the demutualization process is completed and the necessary regulatory framework has been established. The new ownership structure is also expected to preserve the IDX’s independence in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
