Polymarket is in early-stage discussions to raise approximately US$1 billion in a new funding round that could value the company at more than US$20 billion.
The proposed valuation would represent a significant increase from the company's US$15 billion valuation in its April funding round, which attracted new investors, including D.E. Shaw and G Squared, alongside existing backers.
The April round also included a US$600 million direct cash investment from Intercontinental Exchange, the owner of the New York Stock Exchange. Polymarket has not publicly commented on the reported fundraising discussions.

Polymarket’s annualized revenue surpassed US$1 billion following the launch of its regulated US platform in May.
Since the company’s April funding round, annualized revenue has more than tripled, exceeding US$1.2 billion. Rapid growth in prediction markets has attracted stronger investor interest and supported higher company valuations.
Polymarket’s expansion into the regulated US market has further strengthened its position while complementing its existing international platform, with the US exchange now processing more than US$100 million in daily notional trading volume and its international platform exceeding US$150 million.

Polymarket faces increasing competitive and regulatory pressures as the prediction markets industry expands. Polymarket’s rival, Kalshi, which closed a funding round in May at a US$22 billion valuation, is reportedly seeking additional capital in the third quarter at a valuation of approximately US$40 billion.
Meanwhile, Coinbase and Robinhood have entered the prediction markets industry, intensifying competition through their existing scale and platforms.
At the same time, Polymarket is under investigation by the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) over its social media activities and potential deceptive promotional practices. The probe examines whether the platform improperly allowed US-based traders to access its markets, following a 2022 settlement with the agency.
